Flipgrid was acquired, rebranded, and retired. Every video your students recorded — every reflection, every performance, every relationship built through the platform: orphaned with the shutdown.

Finale, the music notation software a generation of teachers built their entire workflow around, was discontinued. Decades of notation files became hostages to a format the world no longer reads.

Thinglink rewarded its early evangelists with throttling, then paywalls, then blocked their embeds entirely. The teachers who proved the platform's worth became its leverage points.

This is not bad luck.

What this licence prevents

In plain language, what that means for your school:

  • You can self-host. The code is yours to run on your own hardware, in your own building, under your own control.
  • You can fork. If we ever change in a way that no longer serves your school, you take what works and continue without us.
  • You can stop paying us and keep using it forever. There is no licence expiry, no remote kill-switch, no subscription that, when cancelled, makes the software stop working.
  • The model weights are yours. The data is yours. We have no legal mechanism to claw any of this back.

These permissions are irrevocable for the term of copyright. We cannot lock you out. The licence forbids it.

The keys are yours

Marketing pages can promise anything. Licences are enforceable.
